Bloganuary Day 5: Really? Only day 5?
What is something you wish you knew how to do?
Hmmm. Tricky. I can think of plenty of things I wish I could do better. Speak French, for a start; cook; take photographs. The list is almost endless because pretty much anything I can do could be done better.
So that’s housework as well.
There are also some things I wish I could still do as well as when I was younger….oh, behave. Walking, of course, and concentrating on a task for more than five minutes at a time.
Now, where was I? Oh yes.
It’s certainly true that there are very many things that I have no idea how to do. In that sense there is almost no limit to my ignorance. One quite significant one I’ve already noted in this Bloganuary marathon is driving a car. That metaphorical ship sailed a long time ago, however.
Most of the things I have no idea how to do I have absolutely no wish to do in any case, and therefore my total ignorance engenders no sense of deprivation whatsoever. For example, I do not feel that my life is any poorer for not having a clue how to tie a sheepshank or, come to that, shear a sheep. If there’s such a thing as shanking a sheep I’m completely clueless about that too. Although it sounds a bit dodgy anyway.
To paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, there are things we know we don’t know and things we don’t know we don’t know. Clearly, I cannot speak of anything in the latter category and there are just so many to choose from in the former.
So, can I come up with just one thing that I really wish I could do, but have not the faintest idea how to set about?
………. (thinks) ……….

Got it! I really, really, REALLY wish I knew how to finish a blog post.
