For this week’s Song Lyric Sunday, the musical genre of choice is ‘Metal’. At least I didn’t have to look that one up, even though it’s not as straightforward as it seems: heavy metal? thrash metal? Saints preserve us, death metal? And even trickier – at what point does rock music become metal.

Well, I think this – the opening track on Gums ‘n Roses’ debut album, ‘Appetite For Destruction’ – may be close to the rock end of thl spectrum, but I’d call it metal for the sake of argument. Either way, you must admit that it’s a helluva way to announce yourself to the world,

And I think my dear daughter will approve of my choice.
