This week we’ve been given the task of featuring a song that mentions tea or coffee in its title or lyrics. It’s not too difficult to think of quite a few although, at least in my experience, many of them hark back quite a long way (think ‘You’re The Cream In My Coffee’ or ‘Tea For Two’).
However, I found I much preferred ‘Tea For One’. And if you like tea and the blues so will you.
This appeared originally on Led Zeppelin’s 1975 album ‘Presence’ but this video is of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant producing a masterful demonstration of how to play and sing the blues in 1996.
How come twenty-four hours
Baby, sometimes seem to slip into days?
Oh, twenty-four hours
Baby, sometimes seem to slip into days, yeah?
A minute seems like a lifetime
Oh, baby, when I feel this way
Sitting, looking at the clock
Oh, time moves so slow
I’ve been watching for the hands to move
Until I just can’t look no more
How come twenty-four hours
Baby, sometimes seems to slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime
Baby, when I feel this way
To sing a song for you
I recall you used to say
“Oh, baby, this one’s for we two”
Which in the end is you anyway
How come twenty-four hours
Baby, sometimes seem to slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime
Oh, baby, when I feel this way
There was a time that I stood tall
In the eyes of other men
But by my own choice I left you, woman
And now I can’t get back again
How come twenty-four hours
Sometimes seem to slip into days?
Well, well, well a minute seems like a lifetime
Baby, when I feel this way
A minute seems like a lifetime
Oh, baby, when I feel this way
I feel this way
Written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant
Definitely an unsung hero of a song by Zeppelin. Perfect choice for today’s prompt.
Led Zeppelin is always to be loved- great choiceπ
Great choice, Deadhead and thanks for sharing this hypnotic tune that is packed with pain and longing.
Love these Plant/Page recordings of Zep tunes; this is a great one and an excellent pick.
I’d forgotten about this one. Great to hear it again
great track
That Led Zep song was new to me – and quite nice
Amazing ππ
