When I saw this week’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt – the final song ever played – two possibilities sprung immediately to mind. The first was the Grateful Dead’s ‘Box of Rain’ from their last show, at Soldier Field in 1995, but I’ve already used that for a different prompt some years back.
But the second fits the bill too: from the rooftop concert, the final take of the final song. I suspect I won’t be the only one to pick this, but hey ho.
Jo Jo was a man who thought he was a loner
But he knew it couldn’t last
Jo Jo left his home in Tucson, Arizona
For some California grass
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back Jo Jo
Go home
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Back to where you once belonged
Get back, Jo
Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman
But she was another man
All the girls around her say she’s got it coming
But she gets it while she can
Oh, get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, Loretta
Go home
Oh, get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back
Get back to where you once belonged
Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney
Such a great song. Wonderful share.
Great choice on a tough theme this week.
I knew someone else would do this but I just didn’t give a good goddamn!
Classic choice.
Good one! Excellent choice!
Good choice. So good that I’ve now seen it twice today 😉
I never get tired of listening to this song, great choice Deadhead.
