“Thinking young and growing older is no sin”
This week, Jim is looking for a version of a song that’s better than the original. As it happens, back in the mists of time (2017, to be more precise) I wrote a post that’s quite relevant to this prompt, the premise being that there are versions of some songs that are so ‘definitive’ that no-one else should even try to cover them.
If you poke around on Youtube it’s possible to find Carole King herself performing this, and also an early (1967) version by The Byrds. They’re both perfectly fine in their own way. To me, though, those versions are all about the harmonies. It’s Dusty Springfield that really feels it.

Okay. So, I went to YouTube and listened to both the Dusty and the Carole, and it’s almost as if they are not the same song. Very different sound. Excellent choice as I was really not familiar with either of them.
Dusty Springfield had the perfect voice for this song.
