Song Lyric Sunday: Do it again – ‘Unforgettable’

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday challenge is what some Brits (me, anyway) might describe as ‘a bit niche’. We’ve been asked to feature a song by the child of another famous singer.

I could think of two straight away: Liza Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland, and Frank Sinatra’s daughter Nancy.. But then, from the depths of my memory I had a vague recollection of Nat King Cole’s daughter Natalie duetting with a hologram of her father.

Of course it’s on Youtube and dates back to 1991, so the technology looks a bit wonky, but it was quite something at the time. And this song is very lovely. As is Madame.

Unforgettable, that’s what you are
Unforgettable, though near or far
Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more
Unforgettable in every way
And forevermore (and forevermore)
That’s how you’ll stay (that’s how you’ll stay)
That’s why darling, it’s incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

No, never before has someone been more
Ooh unforgettable (unforgettable)
In every way (in every way)
And forevermore (and forevermore)
That’s how you’ll stay (that’s how you’ll stay)
That’s why darling it’s incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too.
