“I wouldn’t if I were you”
I didn’t need to resort to Google when I saw that the genre for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday was ‘yacht rock’. However, I did have a problem in moving past the mental image of the official video for Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’ (it’s here if by some chance you’ve never seen it). Once I did, though, this was the first yacht rock song that came to my mind. And yet another great intro.
She’ll only come out at nights
The lean and hungry type
Nothing is new
I’ve seen her here before
Watching and waiting
Ooh, she’s sittin’ with you
But her eyes are on the door
So many have paid to see
What you think
You’re gettin’ for free
The woman is wild
A she-cat tamed
By the purr of a Jaguar
Money’s the matter
If you’re in it for love
You ain’t gonna get too far
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out boy
She’ll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She’s a maneater
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out boy
She’ll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She’s a maneater
I wouldn’t if I were you
I know what she can do
She’s deadly man
And she could really rip your world apart
Mind over matter
Ooh, the beauty is there
But a beast is in the heart
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out boy
She’ll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She’s a maneater
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out boy
She’ll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She’s a maneater
Written by Sara Allen, Daryl Hall and John Oates
Super song! I’ve liked this one a long time. Don’t laugh, but we sang this (with our own made up lyrics) to one of our cats. We called it Moth Eater, because she loved them. haha 🙂 Thanks for playing this one.
That is so funny, Barbara.
Thanks, Jim! 🙂
Great pick! Darryl Hall & John Oates are perfect examples of the genre (which really isn’t a genre).
