All is sweetness and light in the prompts for Song Lyric Sunday this week – ‘delightful’, ‘pleasant’ and ‘sweet’: ‘heavenly’, indeed.
I believe that this may have been the last 45rpm single (ask your grandad) that I ever bought. That would have been back in 1971. It’s another of those earworms that are going to be stuck in there until thoughts turn to next week’s post. It seems particularly appropriate (and poignant) to feature T Rex this week, as it marks the 44th anniversary of his death, in a motor accident, in 1977.
‘Jeepster’ is said to have been written by Marc with his wife in mind. I can certainly relate to that.
Yo are probably bored out of your mind by me recounting the time I saw Marc Bolan and Steve Peregrine Took (on the conga drums in the video) before they went electric and rode the early seventies glam rock wave.
So I won’t mention it. Not at all. No sirree. Not me.
You’re so sweet
You’re so fine
I want you all and everything just to be mine
‘Cause you’re my baby
‘Cause you’re my love
Oh, girl I’m just a Jeepster for your love
You slide so good
With bones so fair
You’ve got the universe reclining in your hair
‘Cause you’re my baby
Yes you’re my love
Oh, girl I’m just a Jeepster for your love
Just like a car
You’re pleasing to behold
I’ll call you Jaguar
If I may be so bold
‘Cause you’re my baby
Yes you’re my love
Oh, girl I’m just a Jeepster for your love
The wild winds blow
Upon your frozen cheeks
The way you flip a-your hip, it always makes me weak
‘Cause you’re my baby
Yes you’re my love
Oh, girl I’m just a Jeepster for your love
Your motivation
Is so sweet
Your vibrations are burning up my feet
‘Cause you’re my baby, mmm
Yes you’re my love
Oh, girl I’m just a Jeepster for your love
I said girl I’m just a vampire for your love
And I’m gonna suck ya
