Jim offers us a range of soft fruits as prompts for Song Lyric Sunday this week.
There is no more than a handful of songs that I can truly say were life-changing on first hearing. This definitely was and would have been the first. I suspect that I won’t be the only participant in SLS to choose this, but I really had no other choice, as explained here.
Let me take you down, ’cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever
Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It’s getting hard to be someone but it all works out
It doesn’t matter much to me
Let me take you down, cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever
No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you can’t you know tune in but it’s all right
That is I think it’s not too bad
Let me take you down, cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever
Always know, sometimes think it’s me
But you know, I know when it’s a dream
I think a “No,” I mean a “Yes”
But it’s all wrong
That is, I think I disagree
Let me take you down, cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Song Lyric Sunday 13 December 2020
This is such a lovely song and I am really happy that you included it today. No one I think is in my tree.
I think it’s not too bad…..
I love this song. The story behind it is interesting too. The title was based on John Lennon remembering an orphanage called Strawberry Field which was close to where he lived as a child.
