After having to dig a little deper than usual for inspiration last week, on this occasion I’m going with my first thought for Jim’s latest, flavour-packed, Song Lyric Sunday prompt. Anyway, we must be overdue another Neil Young song by now.
I hadn’t realised until I hit Youtube that Lana del Rey had also performed a song called ‘Cinnamon Girl’, although it’s not the same one as this
I wanna live
With a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
The rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl
With a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
The rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
My cinnamon girl
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
My cinnamon girl
Ten silver saxes
A bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
And waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl
A bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
And waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl
A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
My cinnamon girl
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
My cinnamon girl
Pa send me money now
I’m gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah…yeah…yeah
I’m gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah…yeah…yeah
Written by Neil Young
Never heard of this one before but it sounds really good. I love the heavy rock vibes!
I read that Neil wrote this song when he was ill with a fever.
There’s a few Cinnamon Girl songs out there. Prince has one too. Neil is always a favorite. Thanks for sharing 😎🎶
I always liked this song – for some reason I had no idea it was by Neil Young. The music on this is so good. 🙂
Neil Young is one of the brilliant writers of his time. I knew someone would do this song. It was the first one I thought of. 🙂
Uncle Neil was a big winner with this song. A local band played this just like the original. It was almost like seeing him live.
