It’s not often I have to go down as far as my fourth choice to find a suitable song in response to Jim’s Song Lyric Sunday, but this is one of those times. The theme this week is looking ahead to better times (‘This too shall pass’), but I’ve already used ‘The End’, ‘It’s Over’ and ‘Over, Under, Sideways, Down’.
However, I’m glad I dredged this one from the back of my memory. Performed by the splendidly named Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, this was quite a big hit in 1963.
You’ve got to love the eye-patch.
i’ll never get over you No, I’ll never get over you I just can’t keep it a secret anymore Oh, no, no
It wasn’t so long ago That you told me you loved me so Then you went and said goodbye And found another guy, ay, yi, yi, yi
I know, somewhere, someday, I’ll find One love to take your place One girl with an angel face But in the meantime
I’ll never get over you No I’ll never get over you I just can’t keep it a secret anymore Oh, no, no
I know, somewhere, someday, I’ll find One love to take your place One girl with an angel face But in the meantime
I’ll never get over you No I’ll never get over you I just can’t keep it a secret anymore Oh, no, no, no
Mick Green was a great guitarist.
Oh my gosh Johnny Kid and the Pirates! I hadn’t thought of them in years. Fun pick today! 😊
Good one! Sounds like a mix between The Beatles and Buddy Holly.
Wonderful pick! I love this song!
