Even a dullard such as myself had rather guessed that, after ‘Boys’ last week, Helen’s theme for this Song Lyric Sunday was going to be ‘Girls’.
So, without further ado, here’s the first song that leapt to mind. Maybe a little politically incorrect these days, but I don’t think any further introduction is required for this Beach Boys classic.
Well East coast girls are hip
I really dig those styles they wear
And the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I’m down there
The Mid-West farmer’s daughters really make you feel alright
And the Northern girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at night
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls
The West coast has the sunshine
And the girls all get so tanned
I dig a french bikini on Hawaii island
Dolls by a palm tree in the sand
I been all around this great big world
And I seen all kinds of girls
Yeah, but I couldn’t wait to get back in the states
Back to the cutest girls in the world
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

Great one!
Indeed. Great choice.
An endless summer classic. Love it!
One of my favorites, being a California Girl myself. I used to put this on and dance while I cleaned my apartment. Nice choice.
I was tempted to use this, and I’m glad I didn’t. Good choice!
Oh yeah…classic one! Of course it’s fun to sing along. 🙂
Ah, takes me back! Wonder if they knew as much about girls as they did about surfing …
I rather suspect they did….
Ah, then that’s not a lot … apparently only Dennis did any … waves, that is! 😉
