“Don’t take life so serious son. It ain’t no how permanent”

Another precious little nugget picked up from my perusal of last week’s Times Literary Supplement. It chimes very well with my own mantra of ‘carpe diem’.
Apparently, this is a quote from a character called Porky Pine (described by Wikipedia as ‘a misanthrope and cynic’: that’ll do), who appeared in a US cartoon strip called Pogo. I’d never heard of it, but no doubt it will be familiar to my extensive Transatlantic readership – of a certain age.
Very good advice.
Pogo was a classic. That’s also where we get the line “We have met the enemy, and he is us!”
