Helen has chosen the theme of ‘courage’ for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday. There are clearly plenty of songs out there that fit the theme in a broad sense. Many of them, though, I’d consider to be off limits for me, in the sense that they are about the challenges of being a woman.
To be clear, that does not make them bad songs (with the possible exception of ‘I Will Survive’), just that I don’t feel qualified to choose one. So instead here’s a Seventies rock anthem from Argent.
And if it’s bad
Don’t let it get you down, you can take it
And if it hurts
Don’t let them see you cry, you can make it
Hold your head up, oh, hold your head up, oh
Hold your head up, oh hold your head high
And if they stare
Just let them burn their eyes on you moving
And if they shout
Don’t let it change a thing that you’re doing
Hold your head up, oh, hold your head up, oh
Hold your head up, oh hold your head high

Great song! I’ve always liked it, and it goes with the theme this week very well! 😉
