Song Lyric Sunday: Unplugged – ‘Rock and Roll All Night’

Like most people, I suspect, when I saw that this week’s Song Lyric Sunday prompt was calling for an acoustic version of a song more familiar in an electric version, my thoughts turned immediately to the MTV ‘Unplugged’ show.

There have been many iconic performances delivered there, with perhaps Eric Clapton and Nirvana being the most ‘legendary’. However, I did a bit of – ahem – research and discovered that Kiss had also done an ‘Unplugged’. That did surprise me: of course I’m familiar with the archetypal images of Kiss in their startling stage make-up, but I’m really not aware of much of their musical output other than that it’s loud heavy rock.

I have to say that the ‘acoustic’ version in the video is still pretty loud – although I’ve also listened to the full-on electric rendition, so everything’s relative.
