One-Liner Wednesday: A Cure For Man ‘Flu

“He very seldom used painkillers, preferring a steady flow of alcohol and the consciousness of his own heroism.”

Edward St Aubyn – ‘Never Mind’

 – – – – – – –

There’s been a lot of publicity in the British media lately for a new TV series featuring that nice Benedict Cumberbatch in an adaptation of a series of novels by Edward St Aubyn. Now, him I had heard of – vaguely – but I knew nothing of these books, which feature the character Patrick Melrose.

As the series is being shown on a satellite channel that I don’t have, I thought I’d read at least the first book in the series, which is where this one-liner appears. The book is…..errrrm…..not without its moments.

  1. I saw the trailer for this and I really want to see it but it’s not available where I’m at. Admittedly, Benedict could recite the alphabet and I’d turn up to watch…so not sure if my excitement is for the movie. Now that I know there’s a book, that’s another notch on the “to-read” list.
